Christopher G. Schmit

Christopher G. Schmit, Ph.D., P.E. is a member of the 2008-2009 Board of Trustees for the Water Environment Federation (WEF), an international organization of water quality professionals headquartered in Alexandria, Va.

He is currently Associate Professor for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. 

A WEF member since 1991, Chris has been a member of the Long Range Planning Committee, Membership Committee and served as editor of the activated sludge section of WEF’s Annual Literature Review.

In addition, he has been active member of the South Dakota Water Environment Associate (SDWEA) serving as president from 2000 to 2003 and as its director since 2004.  A registered professional engineer in South Dakota and Chi Epsilon member, Chris received his B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering with an environmental emphasis from Iowa State University.
