WEF Comments in Response to 2008 U.S. EPA Draft Strategy on Climate Change
On October 2, 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Water released the "National Water Program Strategy: Response to Climate Change."  In 2006, the WEF Board of Trustees identified climate change as a priority concern for our membership and acknowledged our responsibility to lead efforts to mitigate and reduce the impacts of global climate change among water quality professionals.  As a result, WEF's members played a role in the development of the Strategy by reviewing and providing detailed and substantive comments on EPA's February 2008 Draft Strategy (PDF).  WEF applauds the EPA for taking this step toward addressing the issue of climate change and water resources.  By issuing the Strategy, EPA has raised the profile of water issues in the on-going discussion of climate change within the Federal government.
