WEF defines microconstituents as natural and manmade substances, including elements and inorganic and organic chemicals, detected within water and the environment for which continued assessment of the potential impact on human health and the environment is a prudent course of action.  Frequently mentioned microconstituents include pharmaceutical and personal care products, pesticides, and industrial chemicals.  The Microconstituents CoP is currently engaged in activities such as: development of webcasts and Technical Practice Updates; assisting in the programming for the Microconstituents / Industrial Water Quality 2009 Specialty Conference and WEFTEC; and providing input and expertise to events such as Congressional briefings and other industry panels.
