| Morning Session: 8:30 - 12:00 Noon | Working With and Improving Your Relationship with the Media As water quality professionals, we are often asked to communicate information regarding policies, programs, projects and risk conditions. Most of this communication involves the public and media. The focus for this year's workshop, presented by Meg Hunt of C2 Solutions, provided useable tools and tips for WEF MAs in working with the media.
With over 20+ years of experience in media relations, Meg spoke on how to establish a strong relationship and understanding between the media and our profession; help volunteers and others recognize the role they each play in communicating the “news”; create and distribute positive news; develop policy for speaking with the media and much more. WEF/MA Relations - 1:00 - 1:45 pm Deb Houdeshell, House of Delegates Speaker Tom Helgeson, House of Delegates Speaker-Elect
The WEF House of Delegates (HOD) - WEF/MA Relations work group sent out a survey to Member Associations to better understand how the WEF/MA relationship is viewed and how it may be enhanced. Deb Houdeshell summarized the comments submitted and discussed the work group recommendations.
Partnering with Organizations - 2:00 - 3:00 pm Rebecca West, President-Elect
Rebecca opened the session with a welcome message about WEF's commitment to partnering with Engineers without Borders, Water for People, and the Peace Corps. Each organization provided an update on how WEF/MA members can benefit by participating in their organization.
